Master Fitter Re-Assessments - what do they involve?
(Originally posted: Tuesday 17th July 2012)
Are you daunted by the prospect? The message from the Council is not to be - the re-assessment day is structured to be part refresher, part practical. We'll tell you more......
In the morning you will go through basic gripper and underlay installation, stretching patterns and basic stair installation plus joining of carpets. This will be on a 'show only' format so you will be expected to take notes for a quiz at the end of the session.
In the afternoon this will consist of a 'show, do, assess' format. This will cover a hand-sewn bullnose (we expect every master fitter to at the very least have the knowledge of how to comnplete this - this is what sets a master fitter apart.) Also there will be a kite winder to complete on the same format.
As you can see, there is nothing here that you wouldn't normally come across on your average days work so come on guys get your booking form completed and take advantage of the early bird offer.
Delegates are invited to arrive at the FITA Training Centre, Loughborough on the day of assessment from 8:30am onwards so that you are ready to start the re-assessment at 9.00am prompt. (Refreshments will be supplied but you may wish to bring along some lunch as the day could go on until about 4:30pm. )
If delegates are travelling by road they do not need to bring their van, they may travel by car instead. Delegates will need to bring basic tools including a seaming iron with them.
If the journey is long distance and you decide to travel by train or plane we will supply all tools for you to use on the day.
